Free Alcoholism Hotlines in Illinois.
In a 2018 study published by USA Today titled America’s Drunkest States, Illinois ranked fifth. According to the study, 21.2% of Illinois adults drink excessively and 34.2% of in-state automobile accident deaths involve alcohol. This means more than one of every five adults in Illinois drinks to excess. This makes Illinois the state with the sixth-highest rate of adult alcohol abuse in the nation.
Problematic drinking isn’t just an issue in The Prairie State. It’s an issue nationwide. Fortunately, there’s plenty of free help out there for those in need. Alcohol Awareness Hotline
The website alcoholawareness.org sponsors a 24/7 hotline that offers free help to anyone suffering from alcohol abuse. Call 855-955-0771 to be connected to a specialist who will listen and help in any way possible. The site also offers direct links to helpful resources and support groups. Illinois Helpline
Sponsored by the Illinois Department of Human Services, state residents can call 833-234-6343 or text “HELP” to 833234 to be connected with a helpline specialist, with or without insurance, anytime. There’s also an online chat feature (and more) on the website.
Area 19 Alcoholics Anonymous
There’s a good chance you’ve heard of AA, which stands for Alcoholics Anonymous. It’s a free-to-join public discussion group focused on recovery.
