According to a recent study conducted by LSU, around 10% of Louisiana residents suffer from alcohol use disorder. (Furthermore, 5% suffer from illicit drug abuse.) It’s residents between the ages of 18-34 who abuse alcohol most frequently, at a rate of 19.2% of that population. Louisiana also consistently ranks above the national average of alcohol-involved car crash deaths.

DOH Alcohol/Drug Helpline

The Louisiana Department of Health sponsors an in-state drug and/or alcohol helpline. Residents can call 877-664-2248 or click here to reach the DOH website, which is loaded with resources for state residents.

OBH Addictive Disorders Services
