Three hours a day of treatment, day or evening track
Which IOP track fits a Pompano Beach work schedule?
Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) in Pompano Beach puts you in drug and alcohol treatment at our licensed facility for sessions of about 3 hours, 3 to 5 days a week, and you sleep at home each night.
Day and evening tracks let you pick the hours that leave your job alone.
IOP is the level of our addiction treatment in Pompano Beach built for a full life outside treatment: rent to pay, children to collect, a shift to cover.
How soon can you start IOP in Pompano Beach?
In the week of your first call, right after a short intake assessment by phone.
On that call, admissions asks about your substances, the amounts, any past treatment and the hours your job takes. The assessment follows the ASAM criteria, confirms IOP fits, and books your track and first session. When detox has to come first, admissions tells you during that call, and you come in for it the same day if a bed is free.
Can you keep working during an IOP program?
Yes. A daytime job pairs with the evening track, and night shifts, school runs or a late start pair with the day track.
Tell admissions your schedule and we build around it, not the other way round. If your hours change partway through, you switch tracks with the same therapist and the same group where you can. Your case manager speaks to your boss only if you ask, and that conversation stays on dates and hours.
How long is an IOP session each day?
Each session lasts about 3 hours, and 3 to 5 sessions a week give you 9 to 15 treatment hours across the week.
Each visit starts with a check-in; next comes a main group on relapse prevention or rebuilding routines, and the last stretch goes to individual work. Through the week you also get one-to-one time with your therapist, and your prescriber checks your medication on those same visits. Your early weeks carry the most days, and the count drops as you grow steadier.

How long is the drive to IOP after work?

IOP From Downtown and Old Pompano
MLK Boulevard and Atlantic Boulevard bring you east in about 5 minutes. An evening session starts after the worst of the traffic.

IOP From Collier City
NW 27th Avenue to Atlantic Boulevard takes about 15 minutes outside rush hour. Admissions times your track around that drive.

IOP by Train From Farther Off
Tri-Rail stops at the Pompano Beach station on NW 8th Avenue. A short ride covers the last stretch.
How long is the drive to IOP across town?
About 5 minutes from Old Pompano, about 10 minutes from Lighthouse Point and about 15 minutes from Collier City, outside rush hour.
From Old Pompano and the downtown streets around MLK Boulevard, Atlantic Boulevard brings you east in a few lights. From Collier City, NW 27th Avenue drops you onto Atlantic. If a car is not an option, Tri-Rail stops at the Pompano Beach station on 3301 NW 8th Avenue, and admissions works out the last leg with you.
Who should choose IOP over PHP?
IOP suits you when structure on a few days of the week is enough to keep you sober at home. PHP suits you when holding the line takes treatment every weekday.
The signs that point to IOP:
- A sober day is within your reach, but a sober month is not without help
- You are leaving partial hospitalization or a live-in stay and want the next step down
- Weekly counseling on its own has not been enough
- Work or family rules out weeks away
If home makes staying sober hard, start with residential rehab instead, and admissions tells you plainly when that is the case.
Is IOP or inpatient rehab better for you?
Inpatient is better when you need 24-hour care and distance from home. IOP is better when your home is steady and you need structure around it.
Whichever you pick, your therapy, your team and your medication stay identical. The difference is the bed you sleep in and how many hours a week you spend with us. If you began in a live-in bed, your therapist comes with you into IOP.
Which therapies does IOP use in Pompano Beach?
Cognitive behavioral therapy, relapse prevention, motivational interviewing and family sessions, plus naltrexone, acamprosate or buprenorphine wherever your prescriber judges one right for you.
Groups give you a room of people working on the same thing, and individual sessions let you take apart what happened this week. Counseling plus the approved medications forms the core of care for drinking, a pairing the NIH sets out in its NIAAA guide to treatment for alcohol problems. Our intensive outpatient program page covers the full program.
Licensed Intensive Outpatient Care
A licensed therapist leads every IOP group.
IOP Start This Week
Admissions books your first session on the call.
Holiday Relapse Plan in IOP
Your therapist plans each December event with you before it comes.
How does IOP guard against relapse over the holidays?
Your therapist maps every December event with you in advance, and your group meets right through the holiday weeks.
If you start now, the season arrives inside your first month. Yuletide on Atlantic runs on December 3, west along Atlantic Boulevard, and the Holiday Boat Parade follows on the Intracoastal Waterway, where the Chamber’s boat ticket includes an open bar. You walk into each one with a plan: who you go with, when you leave, and the evening session you book for the next day. If you slip, you tell your group at the next session, and your therapist changes the plan that same week.
Weekends get the same treatment. The Pompano Beach Golf Club runs two 18-hole courses, the Pines and Palms, and an early tee time fills a Saturday morning that used to start late and hungover.
Does insurance cover IOP for Pompano Beach residents?
Yes. Florida Blue and other Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, Aetna, Cigna and UnitedHealthcare cover intensive outpatient treatment when your plan includes behavioral health benefits.
Your insurer approves IOP one week at a time, and the price sits well under a live-in stay. What you pay comes down to your deductible, whether your plan has us in-network, and the copay on each session. Admissions checks your coverage at no cost on the first call, and day and evening tracks bill the same. Copays add up across a week, so admissions gives you the weekly total as well as the per-session figure.
Can FMLA leave cover your IOP sessions?
Yes. IOP qualifies under FMLA as care for a serious health condition, which means you take the leave in hours or part days rather than whole weeks.
The Department of Labor FMLA page sets out who qualifies. Your case manager completes the paperwork with you, and the form asks your employer for hours, not reasons. The taking leave for rehab page answers the rest of your job questions.
Is IOP worth it after a relapse?
Yes. IOP catches a relapse early, puts you back in a group within days, and keeps you working while you get steady again.
A slip after treatment tells your team which part of the plan needs work. In IOP you rebuild it in your real life, then bring each hard evening back to your group. Should a relapse call for more, your therapist says so plainly, and you move up to PHP with the same people.
What happens after IOP in Pompano Beach?
Next you move to standard outpatient sessions and then our alumni program, with the same team at every step.
In your final IOP weeks, your therapist books your outpatient care and your prescriber confirms which medication carries on. You go home with a written relapse-prevention plan that names your own streets, your hours and the people to steer around. Downtown gives you sober evenings close to home: BaCA, the arts center in the old Bailey Hotel, and the Ali Cultural Arts Center both sit in the city’s arts program.
The alumni coordinator keeps in touch after you finish, and alumni groups give you a weeknight room full of people who know the work. If a hard stretch comes, one call puts you back in an IOP group within the week, with discharge notes your team already holds.
Nearby cities have their own pages: IOP in Fort Lauderdale, IOP in Deerfield Beach and IOP in Coral Springs.
