In a 2018 study published by USA Today titled America’s Drunkest States, Minnesota ranked fifth. According to the study, more than 21% of Minnesota adults reported excessive drinking in the last month. A total of 61.1% of adults report being drinkers. (That’s a lot.) What’s more, an alarming 30.9% of all fatal automobile accidents involved alcohol.
Alcohol abuse is a prevalent issue in The North Star State, but unfortunately, it’s the same story all across America. Fortunately, however, there’s plenty of free help out there for those in need. The website alcoholawareness.org sponsors a 24/7 hotline that offers free help to anyone suffering from alcohol abuse. Call 855-955-0771 to be connected to a specialist who will listen and help in any way possible. The site also offers direct links to helpful resources and support groups. The state’s Department of Human Services offers a website with comprehensive guidance on how to get addiction help, or you can call 651-431-2460 to connect with a professional who will help you.
